EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Wintershall Libya invites applications for the post of Senior Geophysicist and Senior Seismic Interpreter at our Tripoli offices.
SENIOR GEOPHYSICIST
The purpose of this job is to work as Geophysicist in the Geophysics Team of the Exploration Department of Wintershall Libya being involved in the preparation, execution, processing and interpretation of geophysical surveys and to participate in various cross-disciplinary activities. Main Responsibilities include:
-Design geophysical surveys and geophysical processing flow-charts.
-Planning, supervision and QC of geophysical projects.
-Perform time-depth conversion for Asset teams
-Perform seismic reservoir characterisation studies
-Provide general geophysical support and advise to Asset teams
-Carry out invitation to tender, tender evaluations, contracts and negotiations
-Present work results at internal and external meetings and to NOC
-Mentoring of more junior geophysicists
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
-Broad knowledge of geophysical methods in an exploration and development environment (seismic and non-seismic methods)
-Seismic land data processing skills (time & depth domain)
-Specialized seismic processing experience (e.g. PreSDM model building, AVO processing, WAZ)
-Quality control of seismic processing projects
-Geophysical survey design skills and geophysical processing flow-chart implementation
-Knowledge of how to acquire geophysical surveys (e.g. seismic) and related operational experience is of advantage
-Time-Depth-Conversion techniques
-Reservoir characterization (seismic inversion, AVO analysis, geophysical forward modelling)
-HSE awareness in an operational environment
-Project management (time, budget, resources)
-Knowledge on geophysical contracts and negotiations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1-Libyan nationality
2-B.Sc. degree or higher in addition to advanced training
3-Over than 7 years of relevant industry experience (service or oil company)
4-Proven track record of successful managed geophysical projects
5-Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English
6-Good communication and presentation skills
7-Interaction with other disciplines (Geology, Petrophysics)
8-Good computer skills in particular MS Office and job related software

SENIOR SEISMIC INTERPRETER
The position is geophysical and geological in nature and consists of the interpretation of geophysical data. The incumbent will be expected to:
-Provide interpretation of geophysical data, mainly seismic data and its derivatives, as well as integrating other data including gravity and magnetic, borehole seismic and new state-of-the-art geophysical methodologies as appropriate.
-Contribute to acquisition design of such data
-Perform seismic data interpretations which incorporate geological concepts and sound knowledge of geophysics for the purpose of supporting project teams in the generation and evaluation of prospects
-Support the team in securing project approvals
-Responsible for communication and presentation to authorities and partners within his/her area of expertise
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
1-Good understanding of related disciplines (reservoir engineering, formation evaluation, etc.)
2-Able to provide interpretation service and advice to project teams, supply geophysical data and expertise for internal project reviews
3-Good computer skills, good knowledge of interpretation related computer software packages including basic UNIX skills
4-Experience in seismic interpretation, and other geophysical techniques and technologies which aid in interpretation
5-Experience and fluency using a workstation for interpretation
6-Good understanding of up to date technologies and methodologies used in oil and gas industry, especially with respect to geophysical interpretation
7-Good understanding of geology and all aspects of prospect generation
8-Good understanding of prospect evaluation, including volumetrics, and economics
9-Service contracts knowledge



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
-Libyan nationality
-University degree in Geology, Geophysics or closely related field
-Industry training to keep up to date with developments in Geology, Geophysics and related disciplines
-Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English
-More than 8 years industry experience
-Team player with good communication skills who’s able to participate in an international team of professionals across multi-disciplinary boundaries
